The main character, Wallace Wallace, is on detention for writing an honest, although undesirable book report on the classic novel, Old Shep, My Pal. His report reflected negative aspects of the book, such as unrealistic characters, unrecognizable dialogue, etc. His teacher, Mr. Fogelman, won’t let him off detention until he improves his book report. He cannot return to the football team until his prolonged detention is served.
Wallace Wallace, a favorable icon in the world of middle school football is someone who thrives to tell the truth, and just the truth (2). After writing an insulting but honest review on the book Old Shep, My Pal, he is forced to attend the rehearsals for the school’s production of this (5). Until he writes a reasonable review on the book, he will continue to miss football practices and let his team down after his stellar championship play the previous year (7). Not just his teammates, but everyone in town is furious with his absence. Until he sees the potential and meaning in Old Shep, My Pal, he will have to understand that the drama club isn’t just for actors, but also honest football players.
Eventually, the whole town will begin to miss him, and demand him back on the Giants. However, Coach Wrigley told Mr. Fogelman that Wallace wouldn't have made a difference if he was present on the team. Although, the other players would like to think that, since it is an easy excuse for losing so many games.
I loved your word choice! "Stellar" What a great word. Is the drama club only for actors and honest football players? Why doesn't he like about the novel, "Old Shep, My Pal" or is he just being difficult, and trying to be the center of attention? Overall you explained the conflict very well.
The main character, Wallace Wallace conflict is that he has to write a book report that will make his teacher, Mr. Fogelman, not keep him on detention. The problem is that Wallace doesn’t like to lie and the truth is that he didn’t like the book. This not only aggravates Wallace but the people in his town since he won the game for his football team, the Giants, in last year’s championship game. When Wallace gets put on detention, he must stick around with the school play until he gives a good report to his teacher.
Wallace Wallace was the star of the football team. He was the favorited player on his school's football team. He was forced to read the worst book in the entire world, in his opinion, and write a book review on it. Mr. Fogleman, his teacher, wasn't very happy with his brutal, but honest book review, and gave him detention and an incomplete on the assignment.(5) Wallace never lied.(2) So the though of him having to write a good book review on the worst book in the entire world was not a very good sight.
The main character Wallace, Wallace has a problem with being honest all the time. He was assigned a book report on the book Old shep, my pal, which he did not like on bit. Wallace is determined to always be honest so when it came to a book he hated the truth was not always the best decision. Mr. Folglemen his teacher forces him to attend the schools rehearsals of this until he can turn in a stellar book report. He cannot return to the football team until his punishment is served.
The conflict is that Wallace Wallace, Bedford Middle School’s football legend, gets in trouble with his language arts teacher after giving his honest and negative review of “Old Shep My Pal”. Wallace never tells a lie and his honesty is considered famous throughout the school (9). For a punishment, his teacher Mr. Fogelman makes him go to the play practices for Old Shep My Pal. He also gets suspended from the school’s football team. Until Mr. Fogelman gets the review of “Old Shep My Pal” that he wants, Wallace Wallace has to keep going to the play practices and is not allowed play football (22-24).
This is very accurate and phenomenal. I like how you mentioned he is considered famous. Why does he get suspended from the school's football team? Overall, your review I thought clearly answered the question
Wallace Wallace is practically famous upon his entire school. Although when he writes a book report that is in his honest opinion, his teacher thinks its horrible. As a punishment Wallace isn’t allowed to play or practice with the football team. Instead he has to work on a play with the drama club. After some time practicing with the club he has them change it all together. Through all of it though he stays thinking what he thinks and doesn’t let anyone tell him otherwise.
Wallace Wallace is the biggest star at the school and in the town of Bedford because they had won the football championship. And Bedford never wins anything(9). When he comes back for the next season, he gets in trouble with Mr.Fogelman (the english teacher). He is the most honest kid ever and sometimes it comes off as sarcasm. It all started when he was younger when the more his dad lied the more Wallace Wallace told the truth (2). Mr.Fogelman sent out an assignment to write a reoport on "Old Shep, My Pal," when Wallace Wallace turns in his honest version he is sentenced to detention by watching the rehearsals for the play. And haveing to right it then. Instead of going to football practices or games(22).
Good explanation for the most part, but you didn't explain why it made Wallace more honest, and that really doesn't seem to relate to the conflict. Overall you used great grammar and really told me what the conflict was. Amazing job Brooke!
Wallace Wallace is the star player on the football team has run into trouble. He had read a book in his Language arts class and has to write a report on it. But he turned in his paper and his teacher was very disappointed. Wallace told his teacher that it was the worst book ever and in ever book with a dog the ending is sad. His teacher got very mad because he was the one who wrote the book that he gave him a detention and he has to rewrite his essay. Wallace wrote some more but his teacher didn’t like them. This was a big problem for the football team because he is there star player. Wallace will be on detention until he writes a good essay for his teacher.
Wallace Wallace has conflict in the book. I believe that Wallace’s conflict is that he wants to go to football practice and play on the football team but he can’t. He has to go to the play rehearsals as a punishment because he wrote a completely honest book report on the book Old Shep My Pal, even though it was honest he told the teacher that he hated the book. The conflict is relevant since he often shows how much he doesn’t want to be at rehearsal. He loses friends on the team since they think he is the reason the team is losing. Though he does make new friends at the play rehearsal.
My character has a conflict. He was assigned to write a book report on the book Old Shep, My Pal. The main character, Wallace Wallace, wrote the report, but it was very negative. Mr. Fogelman, Wallace’s teacher, gets very angry with him and gives him a detention. The thing is, Wallace doesn’t ever lie about anything. He has to go to play practice every day until he writes a good report. The problem is he is on the football team and he has to miss all of the practices and games until he writes a good report.
Wallace Wallace is a very popular young boy in his school. Last year he scored the winning touchdown for the school championship. Because of his winning touchdown Wallace practically became famous. The conflict of this book is that Wallace will not write an appropriate review of the book, Old Shep, My Pal. Wallace is a very honest boy and always speaks the truth, so he gave his honest opinion about the book. His teacher Mr. Fogelman didn’t approve of it and is keeping Wallace on detention until he can come up with a decent review. “Wallace is a pretty straight kid. Stubborn,” Mr. Fogelman said (62) Wallace’s team, the Giants, needs him. So far they have lost all of their games.
Wallace Wallace a football player how got the winning touchdown in the county championship. Wallace got detention after turning in an honest report on a book. The book is “Old Sheep, My Pal” it’s Mr. Fogelman’s favorite book. Wallace got detention after writing a “bad” review in Mr. Fogelman’s mind but the truth in Wallace’s mind. Since Wallace got detention he can’t play football till he writes a good review on the book “Old Sheep, My Pal.”
The main character,Wallace Wallace cannot possibly tell a lie and his English teachers assigned him to read a book called Old Shep, My Pal and write a report on it. He hated every minute of it, so he wrote what he thought. He wrote how bad of a book it was. It was his teacher’s all-time favorite book, and his teacher got very upset and demanded him to write a better one. Wallace couldn’t write another one that was uplifting because he had to tell the truth. His teacher gets so upset and makes him go to the play rehearsals which was indeed Old Shep, My Pal. He is forced to drop out of football until he can this book report the correct way. He tries to modernize the play, which some drove some of the cast members crazy.
The main character Wallace Wallace always tells the truth, but when it comes to writing a book report for a book he doesn’t like, he has a problem. His English teacher gives him a detention till he finishes his book review. That also means he can’t play football for the Bedford Giants until he has written the review. Wallace refuses to write a good book review on a book that he thinks is bad. Wallace needs to find out a way to get out of detention and get back to being the football hero.
Wallace, Wallace the famous football player of his school is now thinking about quitting the team because his friends are not so friendly anymore and Wallace decides he shouldn’t be there friend either. Wallace is mad because he plays football with his so called friends he just doesn’t want to deal with them anymore. His friends believe that Wallace is ditching the team so the team decides to ditch Wallace. “You’ve got no business busting in here on me and my friends” (127) His friends are not so happy about his actions lately. Everyone is fighting over friendship and it’s not so good for Wallace.
Do you think he will stick with the drama club for the rest of middle school or take back his old friends? I think his friends are taking this whole situation a little overboard. Also like the quote, supports well!
Wallace Wallace last year’s best player on the Giants, the most popular guy in school who always tells the truth is still stuck in detention. He is so stubborn he still refuses to write a book review of Old Shep, My Pal. Wallace has become a very important part of the play. He has made many great changes that everyone really enjoys. Even Mr. Fogelman is happy with the progress. Wallace has been spending so much time with the drama kids he is forgetting about his football teammates. Wallace makes a big decision to quit the Giants and put all his work and effort towards the play. The problem is his old friends on the Giants are mad and angry at him. The Giants haven’t won a game all year and they are blaming it on Wallace.
One of the characters conflicts is that Wallace has been treated badly by the players on the football team and when he is allowed to go back on the team he quits right away. When Rick asks him why he quit the team Wallace feels like people on the team hate him and he wants to do something where he has friends or at least people don’t hate him. That then makes the play really popular and the drama around the play gets worst because of Parker who writes an article about how Wallace quit the team to be with his “girlfriend” Trudi. This just makes Wallace’s life a lot more complicated.
